End of Semester Reflection - Graphic Design

Image
What did you do this Semester?    For the first few weeks of the semester, the class started out by going through tutorials to learn photoshop and illustrator, teaching the students the way of the software, explaining the ways to use it.  We went through the uses and techniques, the knowledge with the softwares will stay with me forever in my Graphic Design path. Being in Graphic Design I learned many things, such as creating a collage of multiple images, as shown in the image to the right. Along with other projects that were completed with photoshop, we went over the uses of illustrator as well. Creating a racoon postcard.    The Racoon postcard was inspired by Alex Russo, Selena Gomez' character on Wizards of Waverly Place. The layout on the right goes through the steps of creating the template and postcard. I started out with an Italian theme, because of my background in Italian heritage. The rough draft is based off the aesthetic that I seem to follow. The tropical leave

Lucas Manzella Hockey Star

Lucas Manzella Hockey Star  For the second Feature Story of the first semester, I chose to go along the path of interviewing and making a story out of my younger brother, Lucas Manzella's hockey career. I interviewed my brother and made sure to add bits about his recently broken leg. I used B-Roll to cover up the jump cuts. The voiceover was recorded with my iPhone in the audio booth. The requirements were 2 interviews, a voiceover, and b-roll.   The Process of this feature story was easier than the last, not only did I choose a story that had easy and accessible B-Roll, but I chose a story that was close to my heart and personal, Hockey has effected my life just has it has effected my brothers. We travel and spend money on this sport and I knew this was an interesting yet original story. Getting Lucas to agree wasn't hard, he loves to show off his skills when it comes to hitting the puck. He made sure to make a few goals during a game for good B-Roll as well. When doi

card tricks with josh brodie     Olathe Northwest, one of the high schools in the widely recognized Olathe School District, has many talented and interesting students. Ranging from Sports to hobbies. Josh Brodie a sophomore who attends Olathe Northwest is recognized by many for his amazing talent for card tricks. I was amazed by the tricks and the way he did them, one of this favorite things as well. Josh exclaimed his love for card tricks is driven by the audience and their reactions, the way that the audience is so amazed.    We were told to dig deep and find a personal story to use. While everyone has a story that can be told, not everyone has one thats as unique as this. Using premiere pro I added in sound effects of the cards being shuffled to give the interview more of a feeling that he was right next to you shuffling the cards.    Audio was a huge part of this assignment. Its all thats there. We used chunks of an interview that was filmed in a private location so that

Photoshop Reflection

PHOTOSHOP REFLECTION using the cross patch tool I removed freckles and dirt    In photoshop, I learned how to properly edit photos.     Ive always had a fascination with photoshop  s                and to be able to learn how to edit pictures, use the       t                t ools, and be as creative as I want with what Ive                   learned, its really been an amazing, interactive and beneficial unit.         While photoshop is home to hundreds of tools, Specifically I was highlighted on the  using the cross patch tool I removed a logo from the t-shirt                Cross Patch tool, The Lasso tool, and the Clone Stamp tool. The Cross Patch tool was my favorite out of all the options above because it really lets you take the background away from specific photos or replicate a pattern. Although the Content Aware tool does that as well. The lasso tool helps highlight a specific place and lets you change only

ONW Procedure Video

Image
My partner was Lilly Beckwith and we did a video about people wanting to get into the school building, having the help of a secretary in the office who is familiar with this procedure. We made sure to highlight the fact that only parents or guardians are allowed in to visit. In this video we went over and made sure to show 4/6 of the six shots. We were meant to have 6/6 but they were messed up and not able to be put into the video to still have it look professional. While having the audio messed up and too low, I decided to go with a black and white feel with music in the background.  To show and to highlight the true purpose of the video we had a celebrity (me), Selena Gomez, try and come meet a "lucky fan". While having the secretary at the school deny us access because Selena Gomez is not a parent or guardian to any of ONW's students.

End of Year Reflection

Franchesca Manzella's  End of Year Reflection   This year in E9, I learned about editing videos and using photoshop. Most of the semester was me teaching myself how to do things. I now know how to use photoshop, final cut, illustrator,  and sketchup. The only thing I didn't learn was how to make a website.    Its important because in life we communicate with others and need the skills in life. Also in these times we are very focused on technology and very technologically advanced.    I have no weaknesses, my strengths are in the video section of this department. Ive improved because the teacher was very helpful to me.   I am going to use these helpful skills in life and in my adulthood. Along with future jobs. My experience in e-communication will help me in life. I loved my first year of e-communication, can't wait for the next 3 years.
